Welcome Blanket Project

© welcome blanket

Looking for a way to put your fiberarts hobby to use? Come participate in the national Welcome Blanket project and welcome newly arrived refugee families to the United States.

This group is open to crocheters and knitters of all levels. We will be knitting and crocheting 10″ x 10″ squares to create communal blankets to submit to the Welcome Blanket project. You can contribute a square or two to add to a blanket or complete an entire blanket on your own.

Bring your own supplies if you have them. Have a lot? Feel free to bring some to share or donate to the project. You can also purchase yarn for the project at YBD and receive 10% off. This group will be led by YBD’s crocheter Sarah LaVoie. Welcome Blanket pattern information and writing materials for you to work on the notes that go along with your blankets will be provided. Whether you’re a knitting or crocheting pro or just getting started, come join us for solidarity, good conversation, and fun!
